LAWNAPALOOZA!

Lawnapalooza 2026!

A healthy lawn is one of the things that makes Thornhill look green and well-tended.  And while the rewards are easy to see, getting - and keeping - a healthy stand of grass that’s predominantly free of weeds takes preparation, time, know-how, and annual effort.

Add extra challenges like weeds, sun/shade issues, soil and drainage conditions, common diseases and pests, and lawn care can feel like a lot to tackle each year!

That’s why our ACC, Social and Grounds Committees are teaming up to bring you Thornhill's first Lawnapalooza! event.  Lawn care and yard vendors will be on hand to share helpful information, answer questions, and offer tips specific to your yard.

We hope you’ll join us for a fun, informative afternoon on Sunday, August 30, from 3–5 p.m.

Enjoy food and cold drinks, special vendor pricing, and some great door prizes you won’t want to miss!

With cooler weather around the corner, September is a critical month for our yards!

  • To remove proliferating weeds
  • To bring an existing lawn back to life
  • To fill bare spots
  • To replace turf with a more heat-tolerant variety
  • To add irrigation
  • To address excess shade by trimming trees and shrubs
  • To amend poor soil or drainage conditions
  • To reshape turf areas for easier maintenance

At Lawnapalooza, you'll be able to talk with the experts, explore ideas, and find out what might work best for your lot.

And if you're a resident teen with a lawn care or leaf raking business, we'll have a signup area where you can boost business and talk to neighbors about your services.

To help us plan appropriately, please RSVP here!

We can’t wait to see you at Lawnapalooza 2026!

What Does Thornhill Require?

______________________

Thornhill's governing documents require residents to keep a healthy, well-maintained lawn that is kept free of weeds and regularly mowed and edged.  Multiple types of turf grass are allowed, including common varieties such as fescue, zoysia, and Bermuda.  Fresh mulch must be installed in landscape beds once or twice a year, and trees and shrubs must be trimmed of overgrowth and deadwood.
