How to help
Volunteers are vital in a successful community. In Thornhill, we believe that no one can do everything, but everyone can do something!
Architectural Control Committee
The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) keeps the community looking fresh and helps protect the investment in our homes. The committee is made up of five Thornhill homeowners, and is tasked with reviewing member applications for exterior modifications and improvements. ACC members may also accompany the management company on monthly maintenance inspections of the community.
Committees of the Board
In addition to longstanding committees such as Social, the Board of Directors may also seat committees to work on specific topics or tasks. From researching potential vendors to setting out holiday decorations, Thornhill volunteers assist the Board in achieving its goals for the community each year. If you have expertise to share, are interested in serving on a committee, or helping with a particular task, please reach out (ThornhillBODnc@gmail.com).
The Social Committee organizes community activities and events that are sponsored by the Association and open to all Thornhill residents. These include holiday happenings, yard sales, social activities, newcomer welcome, TWA, and food truck visits. Traditional annual events include an Easter Egg Hunt, July 4 Celebration, Fall Festival, Luminary Night, and Cookies with Santa.
The Pond Committee was seated in 2024 to assist the Board in developing a long-range pond maintenance plan.
The Communications Committee assists the Board with official Association messaging via the website and member listserv, and helps develop new ways to reach members, such as a community newsletter.
The Pool & Rec Committee assists and advises the Board regarding the operation, management and maintenance of the pool, bathhouse, pavilion, playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts.
